My Pets
Squirt my baby…he was my ‘firstborn’ so to speak. I found an ad for him in PetSmart, and I called and they said they had three kittens left. So, I drove over to the house, and there they all were with their mom, they were playing and romping, and Squirt did this little thing where he would hunch his back and then run sideways…almost like a crab, I picked him up and said, “Well, aren’t you just a cute little squirt.”
That was how he got his name. He loved to chase newspaper balls, he loved to jump and run and play. He was the first pet that my ex and I got together. He lived to be a little over 15 years old. As he got older he would look at me with those light green eyes, and I could see the love there. I could also see the pain. He didn’t walk the way he used to, he stopped playing. I knew it was time. I had to put him down back in February due to illness. I chose not to stay with him that day, and I feel like I let my best friend down that I didn’t stay with him. I loved him with all the heart I could spare. He will be an incredible angel up in pet heaven!!
Buster is my little Prince!! He is almost 4 years old and is the quirkiest thing ever. I adopted him through the PetSmart program, he was behind a wall of glass when I walked up, there were other people looking in at him, he just sat there. I walked up and he moved toward the bars of his little kennel in the window, and rubbed up against the bars. It was like he reached out for me. I went into the area where we could hold the cats, and he came to me easily and just purred.
He is playful and loving, and he loves to be held like a baby and have his ears scratched. He will also lay in the floor and just sprawl out and expect you to scratch his back and legs. He seems lonesome since Squirt is gone, I catch him walking around and looking, like he expects him to come out of someplace. I think that eventually I will have to get me another kitty…
